Mike Peterson has served as News Director at May Broadcasting since 2004. Mike joined KMA as associate news director in 2000 after serving 10-and-a-half years as news director at KSIB in Creston. A Fremont, Nebraska native and 1986 graduate of Cal State Los Angeles, Mike began his professional radio career as announcer and news director at KILR in Estherville, Iowa. During his career, Mike has won several awards in the Iowa Broadcast News Association, Iowa Associated Press and Northwest Broadcast News Association competitions.

Mike's wife Mary is a special education instructor at Shenandoah High School. The Peterson's have two children: daughter Abby is a fifth grader at Shenandoah Middle School, while daughter Anna is a kindergartner at Shenandoah Elementary School.

Born and raised in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota in Hot Springs, Tim graduated from a broadcasting school in Minneapolis in '76.  He has enjoyed being a Shenandoah resident since '81

Tim has 2 cats, a female named "Cleo" and an adopted male named "Buddy", who stays in the garage.

In his spare time, Tim enjoys trying to play golf, has a passion for the card game "Rook" and enjoy watching football.  Go Huskers and Rams! Tim is also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he is a trustee.

Dean Adkins was born and raised on a farm in Council Bluffs, IA.  Of seven children, Dean graduated from Lewis Central High School where he enjoyed participating in music and sports. Dean received his Communications degree from Iowa State University in 1986.  He currently lives in Shenandoah where he loves spending time with his wife, Kris, and beautiful daughters; Mikayla, Claire and Sophia.

Don Hansen is a native of Shenandoah and some would say he’s a native of May Broadcasting! Originally joining the staff while still in high school in 1971 as an evening announcer, Don has spent most of his adult life at May Broadcasting.

Following graduation and Shenandoah High School, (he and Ed May Jr. were in the same class!) he attended Radio Engineering Institute in Omaha, Nebraska to learn more about the broadcast business. He continued as the nighttime announcer until 1976 when he was promoted to Music Director and Announcer.

Don has held several positions within the company including Promotions Director, Programming Director and his current position as AM Operations Manager where he handles all duties of day-to-day KMA operations.

Don is the father of two sons, Beau and Alex. Don and his wife, Sandy (Sales Manager for May Broadcasting) live in Shenandoah along with their two dogs.

Chuck Morris is back at May Broadcasting for a second time.  Chuck was first here from 1980-1994...and rejoined the staff in July 2003.  Chuck wears several hats at the radio stations, but his primary duties include co-hosting the Chuck and Dean Show, The Chuck and Don show and coordinating the day to day operations of KMA-FM.

Chuck and his wife Jane live in Clarinda with daughter Emily.  They are protected by the family guard-dog....Rissy the long-haired Chihuahua.

It was April. 2007. Kristan's tall dark and handsome husband Scott had accepted a job as pastor of a church in Shenandoah that previous December. The eight-hour commute each weekend from Oklahoma had grown tiresome with their three kids (you can imagine). Yet undaunted by Shenandoah businesses' "No, we're sorry - we have no jobs available", our "young" heroine (whose nickname is Bob) trudged onward with great faith that the perfect job she'd prepared for her whole entire life just had to be waiting for her in this fair city.

Thanks to a visionary-forward-thinking manager (Mark) and his intuitive and spontaneous jazzercise-teaching sales manager (Sandy), Kristan was pulled in off the streets of Shenandoah. (Think Tiny Tim pleading, "Please, sir, may I just have one miniature bread crumb for my little sister who hasn't eaten since gas was at $1.32 a gallon?") In next to no time, Kristan took a test to see if she had a personality and "tried out" with the Chuck and Don yahoos - and she was in.

Although she and Scott are new to the area, they are no strangers to Iowa - Scott is a Treynor grad (Go Cards!) and they lived in Council Bluffs and Underwood from '93 until 2000. In March of that year, when their charming children Ryan, Matt and Haley were ages 6, 4 and 2, Kristan and Scott moved the family to Africa (no, really - they did) where they served as missionaries for five years. (And LOVED it!)

It was that early acting career in her grandmother's melodrama dinner theater in her New Mexico hometown, which prompted Kristan to stay active in speech and drama throughout her school years. After graduation, she moved to Tulsa, OK to attended college. She then attended Bible College and worked for a Christian TV company that produced a show called "Fire By Night" - a Saturday Night Live type format with Christian content. It was there that she fell for that tall, dark and handsome Iowa boy who took her around the world, to Iowa and back, where they're living happily ever after.

Nick was born in Omaha Nebraska and now resides in Clarinda Iowa. Nick has been with KMA radio on a regular basis since 1999. He became a full-time member of the staff in November of 2006. Nick serves as reporter and Co-Anchor of KMA News and can be heard in the evenings Monday through Friday.

Chris Williams got his first journalism break ever right here at KMA at the young age of 18 years old. During the summer of 2004, Williams became a regular personality on This Week in Racing, which airs on KMA Saturday's during race season from 5-6:30 live from the Adams County Speedway. He still announces at the track randomly throughout the season.

Chris, a Clarinda native, recently graduated with a degree in journalism from Iowa State University in May of 2007.

Chris is a true-blue Iowa boy and he couldn't be happier than to be working here with the local high school and college sports teams at May Broadcasting.

During his spare time, Chris loves attending Iowa State athletic events. Watching Cyclone football and basketball is his favorite thing in the world to do. He's also an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves (he doesn't miss a game), Chicago Bulls, the Minnesota Vikings and he's a NASCAR nut.

Chris loves dogs but he's not a fan of cats (he's allergic to them). He loves to golf and he's always ready for a barbeque with his friends and family.

Chris has a reputation in the Des Moines sports market for being a bit of a utility man in the world of journalism. He has a wide-ranging sports writing background, highlighted by his yearlong tenure as the publisher of CycloneNation.com, which ended in December of 2006. He still continues to freelance throughout the Midwest in addition to his work here at KMA. Williams writes a weekly sports column for the Ames Tribune, discussing his opinion on Iowa State athletics and recruiting.

Chris also worked in the radio business during college. During his senior year at Iowa State, Williams and his close friend Brent Blum (Blum is the host of Cyclone Reaction on the Cyclone Radio Network), hosted a 2-hour long weekly sports talk show debating the ins and outs of Cyclone athletics on 1430, KASI out of Ames. Throughout his college career, Williams was also a regular guest on the popular Marty and Miller Show on 1460 KXNO.

Chris has a background in television, as he's appeared on WHO Channel 13 in Des Moines and the Mediacom Connections channel as a Cyclone insider regularly in the past.

Chris has recently moved to Shenandoah and he loves it so far.

Brent Blum joined the sports department at May Broadcasting in October 2007. Brent grew up in the West Des Moines area, and graduated from Waukee High School. From there Brent ventured north to Iowa State University, where he got his first taste of the broadcasting world. Brent served as Sports Director at the campus radio station (KURE) for the first three years at ISU, and also produced a weekly television show on ISUtv. He also interned at Ames radio station KASI and WOI-TV, where he mentored under "Voice of the Cyclones", John Walters.

Brent broadcast Iowa State football and basketball games for KURE, and high school games for KASI while in school. In October 2005, Brent caught a break when he won the Mediacom, "Announcer Wannabe" Contest among 250 contestants, which gave him the opportunity to broadcast a Cyclone Football game on the Cyclone Radio Network. The next fall, the Cyclone Network hired Brent to host the Cyclone Reaction, the football post-game call in show. During that fall, he also co-hosted a weekly sports show with fellow KMA Sports department member, Chris Williams on KASI in Ames.

In November of 2006, Brent became the youngest person to ever broadcast an Iowa State basketball game on the Cyclone Network when he filled in for John Walters in Greg McDermott's first game as ISU basketball coach. Brent was hired that same month to be a permanent member of the broadcast team for the Iowa State women's network and travels with the team all across the Big 12 area.

After graduating from ISU, Brent worked for several months at WOI-TV in West Des Moines, before jumping at the chance to work at KMA.

If he's not driving to the next sports broadcast, Brent is most likely on the golf course, watching the St. Louis Cardinals on TV, or enjoying living in the SW Iowa area.
